Minnesota State Aerie Convention Postponement

General Business Agenda Items Provision
There are state aeries in the jurisdiction that have bylaws directing the conduct and business of their state conventions in a time of war or national crisis that would prevent the gathering for a convention. Their bylaws grant the Board of Directors all powers and rights and duties of the delegates of that state, and that allows their convention to be completed in accordance with Section 35.4 of the constitution.

The Minnesota State Aerie doesn’t have that luxury, so we are attempting to be innovative in how we’ll conduct the necessary business in accordance with Section 35.4 of the Constitution.

We are hopeful the Grand Aerie and other state aeries might educate the Minnesota State Secretary and the Executive Board what actions MUST be accomplished.
Be it known; the delegates of the Minnesota State Aerie in good faith nominated, elected, and installed, the current officers of the Minnesota State Aerie Board of Directors to carry out the executive responsibilities of the state aerie.
This year’s 2020 convention of the delegates of the Minnesota State Aerie has been cancelled for the safety and welfare of the delegates, members, and guests, due to the persistence of the Corvid_19 virus. The business of the state aerie must still be conducted in compliance with the constitution section 35.4, and the Grand Aerie has stated in communications signed by GWP Ron Malz and Board of Grand Trustees chairman Carl Burnett that we may need to be “innovative” in how your Board of Directors conduct this business.

Whereas the legislative and judicial branches of the state should always be kept separate from the executive affairs, this year the Board of Directors will absorb those affairs in order to conduct the business of the state while keeping all delegates, members and visitors safe.

In the meantime:
This is a cancellation of the State Convention of the Delegates, no delegate registration or credentials will be needed. Any registration already received will be returned.
The state president has called a special meeting of the executive board to conduct the affairs of the MN state Aerie, Fraternal Order of Eagles in compliance with the constitution section 35.4, and the Grand Aerie. By executive board approval; Nominations and election of officers will be suspended for the 2020-2021 Fraternal year. A PSP will be appointed to fill the vacant trustee position as per the state bylaws.
